Former Faculty Members’ Bequest to Fund
NA Scholarships for Future Generations

Scott M. and Julie Madison JacobyWith more than five decades of combined Newark Academy teaching experiences between them, former faculty members Scott M. Jacoby and Julie Madison Jacoby fondly recall treasured memories—sharing the root of why they included NA in their bequest and continue to support Newark Academy.

During their collective years at the Academy, the Jacobys left their mark on NA—and in return students made a mark on their hearts. Scott, in partnership with Julie as musical director and hair and makeup artist, worked with hundreds of students on dozens of theater productions. Scott also started the 24-Hour Play Festival, during which students spend a full day creating and performing plays—a defining moment for many NA students and alumni. Julie directed both the Middle School and Upper School choral groups, developed a faculty mentorship program, and directed seven choral groups.

“It was an honor to be such an important part of so many people’s lives,” Scott recalls. It was NA’s faculty, staff, and students who inspired the Jacobys to make a planned gift to Newark Academy. Their legacy gift will provide financial aid for Newark Academy students.

“After all Newark Academy has given to us, we are inspired to give back by making this financial commitment through a bequest in our will to support NA,” Julie says.

Scott shares a similar sentiment. “Our bequest reflects our deep desire to give back,” he says. “All donations, regardless of the size, can and will make a difference.”
